Q: Is it hard to get classes at De Anza?
A: No, most first-time students are faced with the same issues when starting college. Peak times for classes are 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. De Anza offers independent studies and classes during the evening to assist our students.
Q: How much does it cost to attend De Anza College?
A: De Anza's enrollment fees are one the lowest in our area per quarter unit. You can get a good idea of the cost by visiting our Fees at a Glance and Cost of Attending webpages.
Q: When do I need to turn in my application?
A: You may apply online up to three months before the quarter you wish to attend starts. You'll find the dates to apply and register on our Academic Calendar page.
Q: If I go to a community college will it lessen my chances to get into a university?
A: No, most students who attend De Anza before attending a university are more successful.
Q: Will attending De Anza limit my transfer options?
A: Not at all. De Anza has guaranteed admission into 13 four-year colleges: CSU East Bay, CSU Monterey, San Jose State, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, Kettering, Santa Clara University, University of the Pacific and the National Hispanic University.
Q: How many units will I need to transfer under guaranteed admission?
A: The answer will vary for different circumstances. If you contact our Outreach Office, a counselor can help you with this.
Q: How do I get scheduled for a placement test?
A: De Anza has new policies for assessment and placement, and most students who went to high school in the United States don't need to take a placement test. Some students may still need to be assessed for English as a Second Language. You can learn more by visiting the Assessment Center webpage.
Q: Does De Anza offer financial aid?
A: Yes, there are several types of financial aid available. Visit our Financial Aid webpages or call the Financial Aid office at 408.864.8718 to learn more.
Q: If I come to De Anza, how can I transfer credits that I've already earned at another community college?
A: You can get a transcript evaluation from the Admissions and Records office. Visit the Evaluations webpage.
Q: How can I get credit for a degree that I earned in another country?
A: Contact our Evaluations group in the Admissions office for an evaluation.
Q: What are the requirements for admission to De Anza?
A: Admission is open to California residents who meet the basic requirements on our Admissions webpage. Students who aren't California residents are also welcome, subject to the rules listed on the same page.
