Welcome to COMM C1000
Introduction to Public Speaking
5Y - (5 Units) - L49
Winter Quarter 2026
Do you suffer from glossophobia? Are you required to take a speech course for your degree? Have you delayed taking a speech course until your last quarter at De Anza College?
Join us in a non-judgmental "workshop" where you can explore any fears you may have about public speaking. You'll receive constructive criticism about the content and delivery of your presentations from the instructor (one-on-one verbal and written) and from your peers.
You'll have many speaking opportunities to improve or polish your public speaking skills. If you're looking for a challenge, if you're striving to reach your potential as a public speaker, then this class may enable you to meet your needs.
Course Description for COMM C1000 (catalog): Theory and techniques of public speaking in a democratic society. An introduction to a variety of perspectives and approaches used to research, organize, deliver, and evaluate public presentations. Students will develop and apply effective research strategies.
Class Dates: This class runs from 2026-01-05 to 2026-03-27.
