Advisor Announcements
- Hyon Chu: We have Panera Bread tonight including Mac & Cheese; Break at around 6:15 PM. 10th Annual Queer & Now Conference; May 1, 2024 in Conference Rooms A & B at 10 AM.
- Maritza: Still catching up on emails; Queer & Now Conference; May 1, 2024; if you are going through the election process, attending the conference wil help fulfill those requirements. If you were at the Exec training on Friday, I will be sending out the documents I promised and I appreciate your patience. For the most part, you have the information for your checklist. Be sure to have the 1 n1s with the departing executives! Looking forward to working with the group next Friday and good luck with elections.
- Dayna: Flea Market on Saturday on May 4th, Hachi Market Theme in Row T; Rain or shine!
Senate Announcements- Matthew: VIDA and DASG partner to run the student leadership award, any student at De Anza that has shown leadership (does not have to be in DASG, you can be in clubs and/or organizations on campus) you may nominate yourself and/or someone else. Check the Discord with the link to the form as well as the URL. All recipients of the award are invited to the leadership recognition gala on June 5th. Please send in any nominations by May 15th. If any questions, feel free to talk to me.
- Jason: For the first years, DASG and Mentors are putting together an event on Friday in S55 in the Villages.
- Asiya: Be objective when selecting candidates; make sure to contribute during the deliberation; avoid making assumptions about candidates such as time committments; all in a position to learn more about the position; avoid being repetitive; Feel free to bring up any interactions that you have outside of DASG for candidates; don't act surprised/annoyed when conversations get extended; during deliberation be active in conversation; avoid voting by role call.
- For Internal Positions, there are 5 positions open; next week will be the last session.
Student Trustee Announcements- Javier: Board meeting is on Monday, hope to see you all there! Flea Market on Saturday, May 4th!
External Shared Governance Committee Reports
- Leondre: Updates in meditation room and updates on the demolition of the Flint Center. Working on revamping the DASG lounge.
- Curriculum Committee (Javin Ku): Curriculum Commitee - discussed revising 3 different courses.
- Academic Senate (Ian Ang): Working with Daniel Acosta to have Daniel Acosta to speak about tasers being used.
- Asiya: Clarity on tasers (adding on from Ian Ang) trying to opt for more expensive tasers; the time when lethal incidents happened is when the tasers were low quality/malfunctioned. Chief would not move forward with it if not needed.
- Kate Wang (RAPP): Discussed hiring positions
- Lydia Wong (Campus Advisory): 50/50 split both campuses on presentation on Title 9 and different modalities.
Internal DASG Committee Reports
- Administration met and talked about elections.
- Programs met and discussed ES project; Flea Market is this Saturday (Hachi Market) Club performances will take place. ICC /Active Minds and discussed Carnival.
- SRE did not meet but working on Resource Fair event on Thursday, May 9, 2024
- Marketing: Carnival, Resource Fair, Merchandise in progress.
- Nicholas: Finance met on monday; finished presentation for board of trustees meeting.
- Joel: (ICC) Two new officers for Chair of Club Affairs and Chair of Finance.
