Democracy, Patience and Care

Dear Colleagues,
I want you to know that I share your anxiety this morning. Uncertainty can be challenging in the best of times, but today, awaiting the results of the presidential race, it is excruciating.
Our democracy means counting all votes. That is what is happening now, and we must be patient. I know that we will also be kind and generous to our students, and to each other, in the midst of distraction and emotion. Thank you for all that you do – on this day, and every day.
