Taste of History: Hope Takes Shape

Our spring Taste of History event will livestreamed on YouTube and will feature Asian American and Pacific Islander musicians, poets and artists celebrating the power of the arts and humanities in sharing and preserving our diverse stories and languages, and giving us opportunities to hear one another.

The program will include a "Hoisan-Wa Talk Story" performance with the award-winning Del Sol String Quartet and poets Genny Lim, Flo Oy Wong and Nellie Wong. More highlights include

  • Singer-songwriter Lolah – presenting original songs in Vietnamese and English
  • Musicians Satish and Ashish Tare – performing a tabla percussion piece
  • Artist Juliana Kang-Robinson – previewing the "Hope and Solace" public poetry project with Cupertino Poet Laureate Jing Jing Yang and youth poet Alaina Gupta

There will also be a special message from musician Michael Franti, and we’ll remember longtime college and community supporter Jim Jackson.
This event is sponsored by De Anza's unique arts and humanities organizations, the Euphrat Museum of Art and the California History Center. For more information, visit deanza.edu/tasteofhistory
